Seaweed studies
This morning I scanned in some watercolour seaweed studies.
They were painted over the festive period sitting at my parent’s dining room table while family handily played with my son! I ate mince pies, drank tea and chatted. This is why I love watercolour - the ease of just grabbing my paintbox and dipping in and out - the best paintings come when I’m relaxed and not thinking too hard.
I roughly drew the shapes of the seaweed in red pencil and then experimented with granulation, gradients and delicate layering.
Happy 2026!

Beautiful Eleanor
I love the joy behind these paintings!
